Commune of Buttons Clover Pinot Noir 2024

Commune of Buttons Clover Pinot Noir is a single-vineyard Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir from half a hectare of vines.

An east-facing slope in the Clover vineyard carries a patchwork of clones — 777, 667, Martini and D5V12 — across a plot of just 0.5 hectares. Fruit is picked and sorted by hand, mostly destemmed with about ten per cent of bunches kept whole, then chilled overnight ahead of a three-week ferment. Maturation runs eleven months in a single 1800-litre foudre, a vessel big enough that the oak never speaks. Jasper Button works this way across the range: small parcels, minimal intervention, and élevage chosen to keep the site legible in the glass.

Bright and acid-driven, with cherry and spice on the nose and a darker bramble core sitting under a generous middle, the tannins barely there. Serve at 14 degrees. Duck, grilled quail, or mushrooms cooked in butter and thyme.
