Contesa Pecorino Abruzzo 2025

Contesa Pecorino is a dry white from an Abruzzo variety brought back from near extinction.

Pecorino had almost disappeared by the 1980s, surviving in a few old plots in Abruzzo and the Marche before growers recognised what it could do: firm acidity, real body and a savoury, herbal character quite unlike the region's usual Trebbiano. The hills of Abruzzo, between the Apennines and the Adriatic, suit it well. The wine is fermented cool in stainless steel without oak.

Serve at 10 degrees with grilled fish, chicken or antipasti. Drink within four years.
