Description
Coreografia Montsant is a biodynamically farmed Garnacha and Carignan grown at 700 metres in the appellation's northernmost village.
Montsant forms a horseshoe around Priorat and shares much of its geology, though its cooler, higher villages give lighter, more aromatic reds. This label, previously bottled as Pas de Deux, is Tatjana Peceric's own project, and where her Terroir Sense Fronteres vineyards sit in La Figuera and Capçanes in the south, here she looks north to Cornudella de Montsant. The fruit comes from a close friend who farms what Peceric calls a beautiful biodynamic garden at 700 metres above sea level, where vines of more than fifty years are rooted in light red clay veined with gypsum. Winemaking follows the infusion model she uses across the range: nothing is destemmed, no oak is used, and maceration is gentle and done by foot. The Garnacha co-ferments in amphorae with indigenous yeasts and a little Garnacha Gris from the same vineyard, the Carignan ferments in stainless steel, and both rest six months in those vessels before blending and unfiltered bottling.
Drinking well now and for the next five years, it goes with grilled lamb, tomato-braised beans and hard sheep's cheese. Serve at 16°C.
