Coreografia Pas de Deux 2021

Coreografia Pas de Deux is a Grenache and Carignan blend from the cool, high vineyards of Cornudella de Montsant, made without oak or destemming.

Montsant wraps around Priorat and shares much of its geology, but its northern villages sit higher and cooler. Cornudella de Montsant is the northernmost of them, and this is where Tatjana Peceric looks for her own label, seeking a higher-toned and more floral reading of the appellation's two principal red varieties. The winemaking mirrors her work at Terroir Sense Fronteres, where infusion is preferred to extraction: nothing is destemmed, no oak is used, and maceration is gentle and done by foot. The Grenache is co-fermented in amphorae with a little Garnatxa Peluda from the same vineyard, a mutation with smaller, thicker-skinned berries, higher acidity and lower alcohol. The Carignan ferments separately in stainless steel. Each component rests six months in its own vessel before the two are blended and bottled unfiltered.

Drinking well now and for five years, it suits grilled lamb, tomato-braised beans and hard sheep's cheese. Serve at 16°C.
