Description
Craggy Range Kidnappers Chardonnay comes from vineyards near Cape Kidnappers on the Hawke's Bay coast.
The coastal sites are cooler than the inland Gimblett Gravels, with limestone and clay rather than shingle, which gives Chardonnay a leaner, more citrus-driven profile. Cape Kidnappers itself is the headland James Cook named in 1769. The wine is whole-bunch pressed and fermented with a portion in French oak, the rest in tank, to keep it fresh.
Serve at 12 degrees with fish, chicken or a soft cheese. Drink over the next five years.
