Craggy Range Le Sol Syrah 2024

Craggy Range Le Sol is the winery's flagship Syrah, from a single block on the Gimblett Gravels.

Le Sol means the soil, which is the point: the block sits on the deepest, stoniest ground of the old Ngaruroro riverbed, where the shingle stores heat and forces roots down. The wine has been made since 2001 and is among the most highly regarded Syrahs in the country. Fermentation uses a high proportion of whole bunches, with maturation in French oak, a portion new.

Decant and serve at 16 degrees with lamb, duck or game. It will develop over fifteen years.
