Craiglee Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Craiglee Cabernet Sauvignon is a restrained, structured Cabernet from the estate vineyard at Sunbury, just north-west of Melbourne.

The bluestone winery dates to the 1860s, and the Carmody family brought the property back to life in the 1970s. Pat Carmody has made the wines ever since. Sunbury is cool and windswept, one of Victoria's oldest wine districts, and this red is made in the same unforced way as the estate's well-known Shiraz, with oak maturation.

Blackcurrant, bay leaf and cedar over firm, fine tannins. A short decant helps it open; serve at 16–18°C with roast lamb, beef and mushroom pie or hard cheeses.
