Description
Craiglee Reserve Shiraz is a barrel selection bottled only in years that warrant it, chosen for roundness of flavour and the way the oak sits inside the fruit.
Vines first went into this Sunbury hillside in 1863, planted by the Melbourne businessman and parliamentarian James Stewart Johnston, whose 1872 Hermitage is still talked about today. Pat Carmody replanted the original site in 1976 and made his first wine three years later. He and his wife Dianne run the place as a family concern, and he has a hand in every stage. Solar power and recycled wastewater keep the operation lighter on the land.
Dark berries, leather and pepper lead, with toasty cedar oak folded through and velvety tannins carrying a long, full-bodied finish. Open it an hour ahead, serve at 18°C, and set it against slow-cooked beef short ribs or a mushroom and thyme pie.
*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
