Dalrymple Single Site Coal River Valley Pinot Noir 2023

Dalrymple Single Site Coal River Valley Pinot Noir is a dark-fruited, age-worthy Pinot Noir from southern Tasmania.

In the dry Coal River Valley, just north-east of Hobart, Dalrymple farms a single vineyard that produces some of its most structured Pinot Noir. The 2023 shows dark plum, Asian spice, violets and liquorice with hints of cola and graphite. Dark cherry, forest floor and cranberry are woven through fine natural acidity and a touch of French oak. The finish is long and subtle, with enough tension to suggest a good future in the cellar. It makes an interesting comparison with the Pipers River wines from the same year.

Decant briefly and serve at around 16 to 17 degrees with lamb shoulder, roast duck or mushroom risotto. It has the tension to cellar for up to a decade.
