Dandelion Vineyards Fairytale of the McLaren Vale Rosé is a pale, savoury Grenache rosé from South Australia's coastal McLaren Vale.

McLaren Vale's Mediterranean climate, cooled by breezes off Gulf St Vincent, has made Grenache one of the region's signature grapes, and it lends itself naturally to pink wine. Dandelion, started in 2007 by Elena and Zar Brooks, turns that fruit into a pale bronze-pink rosé in a grown-up, savoury style. Expect rose petal, mandarin peel and pomegranate on the nose, then raspberry and ripe citrus on a palate driven by brisk acidity. The finish has good grip and persistence, so there is more to it than a simple summer quaffer.

Serve well chilled on a warm afternoon with charcuterie, grilled haloumi or a salad of prawns and watermelon. Drink it young, while the fruit is at its freshest.
