Dandelion Vineyards Lionheart of the Barossa Shiraz 2024

Dandelion Vineyards Lionheart of the Barossa Shiraz is a plush, modern Barossa Shiraz with fine tannins and a fresh, lifted finish.

The Barossa is Australia's best-known Shiraz country, home to generations of growers and some of the oldest vines in the world. Winemaker Elena Brooks, who founded Dandelion Vineyards with Zar Brooks in 2007, draws on that heritage but takes a lighter hand in the winery. The 2024 shows aniseed and ripe plum with bay leaf and a touch of mint, while oak sits quietly in the background. Powdery, finely grained tannins and a clean acid line keep the rich plum and blackberry fruit poised, giving an upright take on the regional style.

For dinner, think braised lamb shanks, a peppered steak or a mushroom ragù, with the wine at around 16 to 18 degrees. Enjoyable now, it will also build complexity over several years in the cellar.
