Dandelion Vineyards Pride of the Fleurieu Cabernet Sauvignon 2023

Dandelion Vineyards Pride of the Fleurieu Cabernet Sauvignon is a concentrated, savoury Cabernet from South Australia's Fleurieu.

The Fleurieu zone runs south of Adelaide and takes in McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek, with vineyards moderated by the surrounding sea. It suits Cabernet Sauvignon, which ripens fully here while keeping its structure. Elena Brooks, winemaker and co-founder of Dandelion Vineyards, sources fruit from the zone for this wine. The 2023 is dark purple with violets, blackberry, cassis and licorice, plus tobacco, leafy notes and some oak spice. The palate is taut and dense, with fine, youthful tannins that will soften and add texture over the coming years.

Decanting helps the young tannins settle. Serve at around 16 to 18 degrees with a rib-eye, roast lamb with rosemary or a mature cheddar. This one will also cellar well.
