Dark Matter Spiced Mocha Liqueur 500ml

Dark Matter Spiced Mocha Liqueur is a rum-based coffee and cacao liqueur made in Banchory, Aberdeenshire.

Dark Matter Distillers was set up by brothers John and Ewan Ewen, who built the business on rum actually distilled in Scotland rather than bought in and flavoured, and the house style runs to spice and depth rather than sweetness. This liqueur came out of their experimentation with three complementary flavours: the richness and roast of Arabica coffee, toasted South American cocoa seeds, and a dash of heat from Aji chilli peppers, all carried on the distillery's own rum. It is a long way from a standard espresso martini mixer. The texture is velvety, the coffee and chocolate are concentrated, and the chilli offsets the sweetness rather than sitting on top of it. Bottled at 500ml, it is built as much for mixing as for sipping.

Serve over ice, in an espresso martini, or poured over vanilla ice cream as an affogato; keep the bottle chilled once opened.
