David Duband Chambolle Musigny Les Sentiers Premier Cru 2023

David Duband Chambolle Musigny Les Sentiers is a premier cru from the northern end of the commune, directly below the grand cru Bonnes-Mares.

Les Sentiers runs along the Morey-Saint-Denis side of Chambolle-Musigny, immediately beneath Bonnes-Mares, and its soils reflect that position: paler, chalkier and stonier than the vineyards south of the village, with rather more clay than the classic thin Chambolle topsoil. The wines accordingly carry more frame and darker fruit than the lace-like reds from the Charmes and Amoureuses side, while keeping the commune's perfume. Pinot Noir is the sole grape. David Duband farms organically, uses a high share of whole bunches in fermentation and extracts gently, raising the wine in oak barrel with a modest amount of new wood and sealing it under a Diam closure.

Perfumed but firmly built, it suits duck, game and beef; serve at around 16 to 17 degrees and give young bottles air.
