Description

Dawson James Chardonnay is a fine, mineral Chardonnay from Tasmania's Derwent Valley, released with bottle age by two veteran winemakers.

In the Meadowbank vineyard north-west of Hobart, a long, cool season lets the fruit keep its natural acidity while slow ripening builds depth and texture. Fermentation and maturation happen in French oak, used for structure more than flavour. Like all the label's wines, it is held back and released with some bottle age, a practice Peter Dawson and Tim James brought with them after their years at Hardys.

Layered, with citrus and stone fruit, subtle oak and some bottle-age complexity. Serve at 10–12°C with roast chicken, crab, scallops or soft cheeses.
