Dawson James Pinot Noir 2011

Dawson James Pinot Noir is a savoury, cellar-released Pinot Noir from Tasmania's Derwent Valley, made by two of Australia's most experienced winemakers.

The Meadowbank vineyard sits in a dry, sheltered river valley north-west of Hobart, where the growing season is long and cool. Peter Dawson and Tim James, both long-time senior winemakers at Hardys, source their fruit there. Southern Tasmanian Pinot of this kind pairs bright acid with real depth and fine tannin. After French oak, the wine is held back and only released once bottle age has started to build complexity.

Silky and fine-boned, with red and dark cherry, gentle spice and the savoury depth that age brings. Serve at 15–17°C with duck, mushroom dishes or roast pork.
