Delmonico 2020

Delmonico is a Bordeaux Supérieur produced under the same ownership as Château Maucamps in the Haut-Médoc.

Bordeaux Supérieur applies stricter rules than the regional Bordeaux appellation: lower permitted yields, a higher minimum ripeness at harvest and a compulsory ageing period before the wine may be released, so the wines generally have more depth and a longer drinking window. This label comes from the same ownership as Château Maucamps in the Médoc commune of Macau. Merlot forms the backbone of the blend, giving flesh and immediate appeal on the clay soils of the region, with Cabernet Sauvignon adding tannic structure and the cedar note that marks Bordeaux out. Fermentation is in temperature-controlled vats, with maturation split between vat and oak barrel.

A rounded, food-friendly claret for grilled red meat, duck and mushroom dishes; serve at around 17 degrees.
