Deviation Road Beltana Blanc de Blancs 2019

Deviation Road Beltana Blanc de Blancs is a long-aged, traditional-method sparkling wine made entirely from Adelaide Hills Chardonnay.

Family-owned and focused on sparkling wine, this Adelaide Hills estate is run by Kate and Hamish Laurie, with Kate bringing experience gained in Champagne. Their wines are made by the traditional method, with the second fermentation taking place in bottle. Beltana is the estate's top sparkling, and the 2019 spent seven years ageing on lees before release. That extended time adds baking spice, preserved lemon and white stone fruit, with hints of dried mango, while the palate stays fresh, saline and long with a fine, persistent bead.

Well chilled in a flute or white wine glass, it is a fine match for oysters, crab or gougères. Its age also gives it the depth to stand up to a main course such as butter-poached lobster or roast chicken.
