Domaine Albert Mann Gewurztraminer Furstentum Grand Cru 2023

Domaine Albert Mann Gewurztraminer Furstentum Grand Cru is a rich, aromatic Alsace white from a steep limestone hillside.

Above Kientzheim and Sigolsheim, the Furstentum slope faces south over limestone and marl, drains well and holds the heat. That makes it a classic site for Gewürztraminer with definition as well as weight. The Barthelmé brothers farm organically and biodynamically, and here the grapes are hand-picked, pressed as whole bunches and fermented slowly on wild yeasts in old casks and foudres. The wine then rests on its lees and usually finishes off-dry, with the stony subsoil keeping it upright.

Lychee, rose petal and ginger, full in body but not cloying. Try it at 10–12°C with Munster, spiced Asian food, duck or foie gras.
