Domaine Albert Mann Pinot Gris 'Cuvée Albert' 2023

Domaine Albert Mann Pinot Gris 'Cuvée Albert' is the estate's dry, generously textured house Pinot Gris from Alsace.

Limestone and marl vineyards around Wettolsheim, just south of Colmar, supply the fruit, and the name is a nod to Albert Mann himself. Two brothers, Maurice and Jacky Barthelmé, run the domaine with their wives Marie-Claire and Marie-Thérèse; they have farmed organically since the 1990s and now hold biodynamic certification. Grapes are hand-picked and whole-bunch pressed, fermented on wild yeasts and aged on fine lees in big old foudres and steel. The style is dry and savoury, never overtly sweet.

There's real weight across the middle, a full, dry feel and a clean, firm finish. Good at 10–12°C with roast pork, smoked fish, mushroom dishes or washed-rind cheese.
