Description
Domaine Antoine Jobard Meursault 1er Cru Blagny is grown at the very top of the slope in La Pièce Sous le Bois, just below the forest.
Blagny is a tiny hamlet and appellation sitting above the vineyards of Puligny and Meursault and straddling the boundary between them. Both red and white are made there, but the whites are labelled Meursault or Puligny according to which commune the vineyard falls in, which is why this wine reads as Meursault 1er Cru Blagny. Jobard's holding is 0.5 hectares in La Pièce Sous le Bois, at the top of the slope on stony ground between 300 and 350 metres, just below the treeline. It is a cool site, particularly at night, though it catches plenty of sun during the day. Antoine works two plots here, half planted with very old vines dating from 1957 and half replanted in 2009. The fruit profile runs to citrus and nectarine, and the finish is taut rather than broad.
Drink from two years and over the following decade with roast chicken, scallops or Comté. Serve at 10-12°C.
