Description
Domaine Antoine Jobard Meursault-Blagny 1er Cru comes from half a hectare at the very top of La Pièce Sous le Bois, just below the forest.
Blagny is a tiny hamlet and appellation on the hill above Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault, straddling the boundary between the two. Reds there are sold as Blagny; whites take the name of whichever village the vineyard falls in, which is why this is labelled Meursault-Blagny. Jobard's parcel is on the Meursault side, in La Pièce Sous le Bois at the top of the slope. The stony terroir sits between 300 and 350 metres, immediately under the treeline, so nights are cold while the vineyard still gathers plenty of sun through the day. The domaine tends two plots, half planted with very old vines dating from 1957 and the other half replanted in 2009. Fermentation is natural and ageing takes place in predominantly older barrels, in the reductive, slow-opening Jobard manner.
Needs four or five years and will hold for fifteen. Serve at 10-12°C with roast chicken, grilled marron or a well-aged comté.
*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
