Domaine Antoine Jobard Meursault En La Barre is the domaine’s largest holding, sitting immediately behind the cellar on barely 40mm of topsoil over fragmented limestone.

Meursault is the largest of the Côte de Beaune’s white wine villages and its village-level lieux-dits vary considerably; En La Barre lies on the northern side of the commune, abutting Comtes Lafon’s Clos de la Barre. Jobard farms 1.3 hectares across three parcels, one of them in the heart of the vineyard, with vines around forty years old whose roots run straight into the mother rock. The limestone here is abundant enough that the site once held a quarry, and the stone from it built many of the houses nearby. The Jobard style is well established in Meursault — long lees ageing, restrained new oak, late bottling and a deliberately taut, mineral reading of the village rather than a rich one. This is generally considered the signature wine of the domaine.

Drinking now and capable of another eight to ten years. Serve at 10-12°C with roast chicken, grilled marron or a mushroom and thyme tart.
