Description
Domaine Auguste Clape Cornas 'Renaissance' is drawn from the estate's younger vines, offering a brighter, more immediate expression of Cornas alongside the domaine's flagship bottling.
The Cornas appellation sits on the west bank of the Rhône opposite Valence, its sun-trapped, terraced hillsides long recognised for producing some of the region's darkest, most powerful expressions of Syrah. Domaine Auguste Clape has been at the centre of the appellation's story since Auguste Clape began bottling under his own name in the 1950s, and the estate, now guided by son Pierre-Marie and grandson Olivier, continues to farm its vines by hand across the steepest terraces, applying the same traditional, minimal-intervention winemaking to its younger parcels as to its most historic plots.
A vibrant, energetic Cornas that can be enjoyed sooner than the flagship cuvée while still rewarding a few years in the cellar, ideal with roasted meats and richer fare.
