Domaine aux Moines Vin de France Le Berceau des Fées 1.5L MAGNUM 2023

Domaine aux Moines Vin de France Le Berceau des Fées, in magnum, is a dry Chenin Blanc from young vines in the Roche-aux-Moines terroir.

This cuvée takes its name, the Cradle of the Fairies, from the copse of trees surrounding the two-hectare parcel it comes from, within the prestigious Roche-aux-Moines vineyard in Savennières. Because the wine is aged for only six months, less than the appellation rules require, it is bottled as Vin de France rather than under the Savennières name. The vines are organically farmed and are the younger plantings on the estate, whose fruit is kept out of the grand vin. Fermentation is with wild yeasts in stainless steel, and Tessa Laroche works with very little sulphur, so the wine stays direct and unadorned. The schist soils give a dry, pulpy Chenin with cool orchard fruit, salted-lemon flesh and the smoky mineral character of the appellation.

Unlike the domaine's grand vin, this is made for early drinking over two or three years; serve with grilled fish, roast chicken or goat's cheese at 10-12°C.
