Domaine Collotte Fixin Les Champstions 2022

Domaine Collotte Fixin Les Champstions is a village red from one of the sturdiest appellations of the northern Côte de Nuits.

Fixin is the next commune south of Marsannay and among the least fashionable village appellations of the Côte de Nuits, which keeps its prices honest. It has premiers crus of its own, the Clos de la Perrière and the Clos du Chapitre among them, and its reds are known for being sturdy, dark and slow to open, closer in build to Gevrey-Chambertin next door than to anything in the Côte de Beaune. The vineyards sit on limestone with a good deal of stone in the topsoil and some heavier clay towards the road. Domaine Collotte is a family estate at Marsannay, a short distance north, farming parcels in its home village along with Fixin and Gevrey-Chambertin.

Sturdy and firmly tannic when young, it suits braised beef, game and hard cheese; serve at around 17 degrees.
