Description
Domaine Comte Abbatucci Alte Rosso Blanc is a white wine made from Barbarossa, one of the rare Corsican varieties preserved in the estate's conservatory plantings.
Barbarossa is an old Corsican variety, all but lost from the island's plantings and kept alive in the collection of near extinct grapes that Antoine Abbatucci assembled in the 1960s. His son Jean-Charles farms the estate at Casalabriva in the Taravo valley biodynamically, with horses in the vineyard and sheep grazing the rows, on decomposed granite in the south west of the island. The vines sit under the maquis, and the estate is Demeter certified. Wines drawn from the conservatory parcels are made with the least possible intervention, hand picked, fermented on indigenous yeast and raised without new oak, and they sit outside the local appellation as Vin de France because the varieties are not authorised.
Distinctive and textural rather than fruit driven, it suits grilled fish, charcuterie and hard cheeses; serve at around 12 degrees.
*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
