Description
Domaine Couturier Bourgogne Blanc is a regional white Burgundy from organically farmed Chardonnay.
Bourgogne Blanc is the regional appellation for white wine grown anywhere across Burgundy's classified vineyard land, from the Yonne in the north down through the Côte d'Or and the Côte Chalonnaise to the Mâconnais. Chardonnay is the grape, grown on the limestone and marl soils that run the length of the region, and the appellation typically draws on vines below the village slopes or on younger plantings not yet used for a village label. Growers farming organically, as this domaine does, work without synthetic herbicides or pesticides. Regional whites are usually fermented in tank or older barrels with little or no new oak and bottled after a relatively short élevage, so they show the freshness of the grape and drink well from release.
Dry, fresh and lightly built, it suits shellfish, salads, goat cheese and simple poultry dishes; serve at around 11 degrees.
