Domaine Couturier Mâcon-Loché Longues Terres 2023

Domaine Couturier Mâcon-Loché Longues Terres is a single named parcel from a small commune of the southern Mâconnais.

Loché is one of the little communes east of the Pouilly escarpments entitled both to its own Pouilly appellation and to Mâcon-Loché for wines made in a lighter register. Longues Terres is a named parcel farmed by Domaine Couturier, an organically worked estate based in this corner of the Mâconnais. The soils are clay and limestone over the same Jurassic bedrock that rises dramatically at Solutré and Vergisson a few kilometres away, and the vineyards sit on gentle east facing slopes. Chardonnay ripens fully here, and the domaine's approach is to ferment and raise the wine with minimal intervention and little new wood, letting the weight of the parcel come through.

Rounder than a northern white Burgundy but still fresh, it goes well with poultry, pork and creamy cheeses; serve at around 11 to 12 degrees.
