Description
Domaine Daniel Bouland Morgon Délys, in magnum, is the concrete-raised younger-vine bottling from the lieu-dit behind the domaine's own winery.
Les Délys sits within the Corcelette climat of Morgon, downslope from Bellevue and directly behind Daniel Bouland's residence and cellar. He divides the site into two cuvées, an old-vine version raised in foudre and this one from vines planted in 1978 and 1980, matured in concrete to keep the fruit unadorned. The soils are the deep granitic sand characteristic of Les Délys, and their depth lends roundness and a texture closer to Burgundy than to typical Beaujolais. The domaine's methods are consistent across the range: hand harvesting, very low yields, natural whole-bunch fermentation and no fining. The wine is sweetly ripe but vivacious, a touch firmer in structure than the Corcelette, with so much succulence that the grip only shows on the long finish.
Ready after a year or two and good for the best part of a decade in magnum; serve with charcuterie, roast chicken or grilled pork at 14-16°C.
