Domaine Daniel Dampt Chablis 1er Cru Côte de Léchet is a light-bodied, unoaked Chardonnay from a steep slope in northern Burgundy, here in a half-bottle.

Just west of Chablis, the hamlet of Milly is where the family is based, working a substantial spread of premiers crus with the next generation now on board. This vineyard sits directly above the village on a left-bank slope of Kimmeridgian marl, fossil-rich clay and limestone that gives the wine its stony, saline edge. Gentle pressing, a cool ferment in stainless steel and a winter on fine lees come before bottling, with no oak.

Taut and dry, with green apple, citrus and a chalky finish. The 375ml size suits a meal for two and matures a little faster than a full bottle. Serve at 10-12°C with oysters or grilled fish.
