Domaine de l'Arlot Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots comes from a premier cru wedged between the grand crus of Richebourg and Echézeaux.

Les Suchots is among the largest and most highly regarded premier crus of Vosne-Romanée, sitting mid-slope with Richebourg and Romanée-Saint-Vivant on one flank and Echézeaux on the other. Its soils are relatively deep, clay over limestone scree, and its wines tend to marry the spice and dark fruit of Vosne with a fleshier middle than neighbouring sites. Domaine de l'Arlot, based at Prémeaux-Prissey at the southern end of the Côte de Nuits, farms a parcel here and vinifies it as it does the rest of the range: indigenous yeasts, a generous proportion of whole bunches, infusion-style extraction rather than heavy plunging, and ageing in barrel with only a measured share of new oak. The result is a Vosne built on perfume and detail.

Give it time in the cellar and it will drink well over a long window. Serve at 16–18°C with roast venison, duck breast or a mushroom tart.
