Description
Domaine de la Grenaudière Muscadet Clisson is a serious, terroir-specific bottling from one of the most respected estates in the Muscadet region of the Loire Valley.
The Ollivier family has farmed this estate since 1723 and it is now run by Mathilde Ollivier, an eighth-generation, formally trained oenologist. The 28-hectare property lies on granite soils of the Armorican Massif between the Sèvre and Maine rivers, and Clisson is one of the region's recognised cru communal sites, its poor, well-drained granite giving wines of notable finesse and ageing potential. The domaine works exclusively with the Melon de Bourgogne grape and ages this cuvée on its lees in underground vats for an extended period, building texture and complexity well beyond everyday Muscadet.
This is a serious, ageworthy white, ideal with shellfish, seafood or as a versatile match for a wide range of dishes.
