Domaine de Poutéou Bas Armagnac 200ml 2009

Domaine de Poutéou Bas Armagnac is a vintage-dated Gascon brandy, distilled from white grapes and aged in oak.

The estate farms in the sandy west of Armagnac, source of the most fragrant brandies. Its grapes, Baco and Ugni Blanc among them, make poor table wine and excellent spirit, which is exactly why they're grown. The thin, acidic wine is distilled once at low strength in a continuous still, keeping more aroma than a pot still would, then rests in oak in the estate's cellar, slowly losing strength and gaining colour, spice and eventually rancio.

Younger than the old vintages, still bright with grape and vanilla over gentle oak. Serve neat at 18-20°C after dinner or over ice when it's warm; a 200ml bottle makes an easy introduction.
