Description
Domaine de Poutéou Bas Armagnac is a single-vintage Gascon brandy with long cask age, from the western zone of Armagnac.
Iron-bearing tawny soils called sables fauves give this part of the region its brandies of finesse and floral perfume. The base is Gascony's traditional white grapes, mostly Ugni Blanc with some Baco, Folle Blanche and Colombard, fermented dry with no additions. The estate follows local practice: one pass through the continuous column still at low strength, for a spirit with more fruit and aromatic weight. It then ages in Gascon oak and is bottled from the one vintage.
Long-matured and mellow, with rancio, dried fruit, prune and toasted oak. Drink it neat after dinner in a tulip glass at room temperature, around 18-20°C, with dark chocolate, walnuts or a strong washed-rind cheese.
*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
