Domaine de Poutéou Bas Armagnac 700ml 2009

Domaine de Poutéou Bas Armagnac is a single-vintage Gascon brandy, firmer and more vinous than the estate's older bottlings.

In the west of Armagnac, tawny sands rich in iron produce the region's most perfumed brandies. Here the base wine comes chiefly from Ugni Blanc, backed by Folle Blanche, Colombard and Baco, and is left low in alcohol and high in acid, which is what distillation needs. The estate runs it once through the local continuous still, keeping fruit and aromatic weight in the spirit, then ages it in Gascon oak without blending across years.

Stone fruit, vanilla and a warm, spicy finish on a firm frame. Pour it at room temperature (18-20°C) after dinner with dark chocolate, dried fruit or hard cheese.
