Description
Domaine des Aubuisières Charles Lesaffre Vouvray 'Amphoréale' is a dry white wine from the Loire Valley, a distinctive expression of Chenin Blanc from one of Vouvray's most respected estates.
Vouvray, on the north bank of the Loire near Tours, is one of the great homes of Chenin Blanc, its clay-flint and clay-limestone soils over tuffeau limestone giving the variety both richness and vibrant acidity. Domaine des Aubuisières was built into a benchmark Vouvray address by Bernard Fouquet, who farmed some 28 hectares of Chenin Blanc across a range of terroirs; the estate is now led by Charles Lesaffre, long Fouquet's second-in-command, who continues the meticulous, terroir-focused winemaking that earned the domaine its reputation. The 'Amphoréale' cuvée reflects a more exploratory side of the estate's work, with fermentation and ageing carried out in amphorae to bring added texture and nuance to the classic Vouvray style.
This is a characterful, food-friendly Loire white, well suited to roast chicken, seafood or creamy vegetarian dishes.
