Domaine des Baumard Anjou Pic Martin 2022

Domaine des Baumard Anjou Pic Martin is a dry Chenin Blanc from one of the reference estates of Anjou, bottled under screwcap.

The Baumard family have made wine at Rochefort-sur-Loire since the eighteenth century, and the modern domaine built its name under Jean Baumard and then his son Florent on Savennières and Quarts de Chaume. The house style is precise and reductive: cool, slow fermentations, protection from oxygen at every stage and very little new oak, which lets the Chenin's acidity and the schist soils of the Anjou noir carry the wine. Baumard were also among the first serious Loire estates to move to screwcap, and this bottling is sealed with a stelvin-luxe closure, chosen to hold the wine's freshness over long cellaring rather than for convenience.

A dry, clean and citrus-driven Chenin for seafood, roast chicken and fresh goat's cheese; serve at around 10 degrees.
