Domaine des Baumard Carte Turquoise Brut Crémant de Loire NV

Domaine des Baumard Carte Turquoise is a Crémant de Loire blending forty per cent Cabernet Franc with thirty per cent each of Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay.

The Baumard family have farmed at Rochefort-sur-Loire in the Anjou since the eighteenth century and are best known for their Savennières and their sweet Quarts de Chaume, both built on Chenin Blanc. Crémant de Loire is the region's traditional-method appellation, requiring whole-bunch pressing, a second fermentation in bottle and at least twelve months on lees. Carte Turquoise is pressed white from a majority of Cabernet Franc, which brings weight and a faint red-fruit undertone, with Chenin Blanc supplying acidity and orchard fruit and Chardonnay rounding the middle. It is disgorged with a brut dosage.

A refined, dry sparkling for the aperitif or for shellfish, sushi and lighter poultry dishes; serve it at around eight degrees.
