Domaine des Baumard Savennières sec Clos St Yves is a dry Chenin Blanc from a single walled parcel on the schist slopes of the Anjou.

Savennières occupies a narrow band of steep, south facing hillside on the right bank of the Loire west of Angers, where Chenin Blanc grows on hard Armorican schist and volcanic rock with very thin soils. The Baumard family, based at Rochefort-sur-Loire, has worked in the Layon and Savennières for generations and holds the Clos Saint Yves as one of its named parcels. Fruit is picked in successive passes, pressed and fermented in tank without malolactic conversion, then aged on lees to build texture while keeping the wine fully dry. Baumard was one of the earliest serious Loire estates to adopt screwcap, and this bottle is sealed under a Stelvin Lux closure.

Firm, dry and long lived, it suits roast chicken, pork, scallops and creamy cheeses, and rewards decanting when young; serve at ten to twelve degrees.
