Description
Domaine des Carlines Côtes du Jura 'En Lya' is a Chardonnay from the narrow band of vineyards that lies between Burgundy and the Swiss border.
The Jura runs north to south along the Revermont hills, facing the Côte d'Or across the Bresse plain, and its slopes are made of grey and blue marl broken up by limestone scree. Chardonnay has been grown here for centuries, long enough to have collected local names, and it accounts for the greater part of the region's plantings. The Côtes du Jura appellation covers the length of the vineyard, from Salins-les-Bains in the north to Saint-Amour in the south. Two traditions sit side by side in its cellars: barrels kept topped up, in the manner of Burgundy, and barrels left unfilled so that a veil of yeast forms on the surface.
Serve at around 11 to 12 degrees with poultry in a cream sauce, freshwater fish or a Comté from the mountains nearby.
