Domaine des Carlines La Vouivre Chardonnay Savagnin 2023

Domaine des Carlines La Vouivre Chardonnay Savagnin is a Jura white blending Chardonnay with the region's own Savagnin.

Named after the winged serpent of Franche-Comté folklore, this blend is mostly Chardonnay with a share of Savagnin, made in the topped-up ouillé style that keeps the wine fresh and fruit-led. Patrick and Sophie Ligeron established the domaine in 2015 at Menétru-le-Vignoble, where the grey marl soils of the Château-Chalon area give whites with a saline, mineral edge. Fermentation is with natural yeasts, followed by ageing in old Burgundy barrels. Expect apple and citrus fruit with a gently nutty, savoury Jura character.

Enjoy it lightly chilled with a cheese fondue, trout meunière or roast chicken.
