Description

Domaine des Croix Beaune Rouge is a village bottling that in this release also takes in declassified fruit from the premier cru of Bas les Teurons.

Beaune's village-level vineyards sit mainly on the flatter ground below the premier cru band, and the sourcing of this cuvée shifts from year to year according to what the harvest gives. Two village parcels, Pointes de Tuvilain and Blanchisserie, form the base. To them David Croix has added the crop from his small holding in the premier cru of Bas les Teurons, declassified into this wine rather than bottled separately. Vine ages across the parcels range from 1957 to 2010 plantings and every one has been farmed organically since 2008. Around 10 per cent whole clusters went into the fermentation and the wine was bottled without filtration, which is standard practice at the domaine. It is a straightforward, well-made Beaune with more depth than the label implies.

Ready on release and good for five or six years. Serve at 16-18°C with roast chicken, charcuterie or a mushroom tart.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
