Description
Domaine des Croix Beaune Rouge is a village wine built around two organically farmed parcels and bottled without added sulphur.
Beaune is the largest appellation of the Côte d’Or and its village reds vary enormously depending on where in the commune the fruit sits. The exact make-up of this cuvée shifts with the vintage, but two parcels always form its core. Pointes de Tuvilain lies right up against the premier crus and shares the marl and clay of its neighbours, while the vines in Blanchisserie sit below Bas du Teurons on shallower, sandier ground. Plantings run from 1957 to 2010 and every parcel has been farmed organically since 2008. The vines are not trimmed but wrapped down, the tressage method that keeps the canopy intact. This release was raised principally in large oak foudre before being racked early into concrete, fermented with roughly 30 per cent whole bunches, kept free of added sulphur and bottled unfiltered.
Ripe, textural and ready now, with three to six years ahead of it. Serve at 16-18°C with charcuterie, roast chicken or a lentil and bacon braise.
*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
