Domaine des Lambrays Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru 2023

Domaine des Lambrays Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru is a red Burgundy from a single walled vineyard in Morey-Saint-Denis that the domaine holds almost in its entirety.

Clos des Lambrays covers a little under nine hectares on the slope above Morey-Saint-Denis, and all but a small corner belongs to the domaine, which makes it one of the largest near-monopoles in the Côte de Nuits. The clos is old, appearing in the records of the abbey of Cîteaux in the fourteenth century, though it spent much of the twentieth century divided among many owners and in decline before being reassembled and replanted. It was promoted to grand cru in 1981, later than its illustrious neighbours. LVMH bought the estate in 2014. A high proportion of whole bunches in the fermentation has long been the house signature.

This is a wine for the cellar; decant and serve at about 16 degrees with game birds, duck or roast beef.
