Domaine des Perdrix Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Aux Perdrix 2021

Domaine des Perdrix Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Aux Perdrix is the wine the domaine is named for, from a premier cru at the Premeaux end of the appellation.

Nuits-Saint-Georges stretches across two communes: the village itself and Prémeaux-Prissey to the south, whose vineyards are entitled to the Nuits-Saint-Georges name. Aux Perdrix lies in Premeaux, on stony limestone soils, and the domaine owns the greater part of the climat, close enough to a monopole that vineyard and estate share a name. The estate belongs to the Devillard family, who also own Château de Chamirey in Mercurey. The grapes are hand picked and sorted, fermented in small lots and matured in French oak, with the proportion of new barrels judged against the weight of the fruit. Premier cru Nuits from this side of the appellation has a reputation for depth rather than delicacy.

Give it five years or more; decant and serve at about 16 degrees with roast lamb, beef or game.
