Domaine Desvignes Givry rouge Champ La Dame 2023

Domaine Desvignes Givry rouge Champ La Dame is a village red from a family estate at the heart of the Côte Chalonnaise.

Givry is one of the five village appellations of the Côte Chalonnaise, the run of broken limestone hills south of the Côte de Beaune, and it is above all red wine country: Pinot Noir accounts for the great majority of plantings, on east and south-east facing slopes of clay over limestone. The wines are lighter framed and earlier drinking than those of the Côte de Beaune, with bright red fruit, a savoury edge and supple tannin, and they have long been among the better value reds of Burgundy. Domaine Desvignes farms in Givry and bottles both village wines and premier crus. Village cuvées here are normally destemmed, given a fairly short cuvaison and aged in used barrel so the fruit stays to the fore.

Bright and supple, it suits charcuterie, roast pork and coq au vin; serve at around 15 degrees.
