Domaine Desvignes Givry rouge Clos du Vernoy is a premier cru from a walled parcel closely associated with this family estate.

Clos du Vernoy is one of the walled premier cru sites of Givry, on the mid-slope west of the village where clay-limestone soils face east and south-east. Enclosure matters here: the wall shelters the vines and holds warmth, and the wines are among the fuller and more structured of the appellation, with dark cherry fruit, a savoury and faintly earthy edge and tannin that needs a few years to settle. Givry lies at the northern end of the Côte Chalonnaise, higher and marginally cooler than the Côte de Beaune, which preserves acidity through warm vintages. Domaine Desvignes ferments its reds in the traditional manner and ages them in oak barrel with a modest proportion of new wood.

Deeper and firmer than village Givry, it suits roast lamb, game and mature cheese; serve at around 16 degrees.
