Domaine Desvignes Givry rouge Ozymandias Premier Cru 2023

Domaine Desvignes Givry rouge Ozymandias is a premier cru red from the Côte Chalonnaise, bottled under an unusual cuvée name.

Givry's premier crus occupy the better mid-slope sites on the limestone hills west of the village, where clay-limestone soils and a good south-easterly exposure ripen Pinot Noir more completely than the flatter village ground below. The wines carry more depth and structure than village Givry without losing the appellation's freshness and savoury red fruit, and they hold well for a decade. Domaine Desvignes farms several premier cru parcels in the commune. Premier cru reds here are generally destemmed or given a portion of whole bunches, fermented with a longer cuvaison than the village wines and aged in oak barrel with a small proportion of new wood before bottling.

Firmer and deeper than village Givry, it suits game birds, roast duck and mushroom dishes; serve at around 16 degrees.
