Description
Blanc Etc… is the most open and accessible wine in the Dagueneau range, drawn from four parcels around Saint-Andelain and bottled as Vin de France.
The domaine at Saint-Andelain is the reference point for serious Sauvignon Blanc in the upper Loire, and Louis-Benjamin Dagueneau has continued his father's exacting approach to picking and to élevage in wood. This cuvée gathers fruit from four sites: two parcels of young vines on the Saint-Andelain hill in the Bois de Saint-Andelain climat, a parcel of 15- to 20-year-old vines on flinty clay, and another on limestone and marl at Les Coques. Together they give the most direct expression of the Pouilly-Fumé terroirs, and the quality has climbed sharply under the current generation to the point where the wine now stands close to the single-vineyard bottlings. Only 102 bottles were shipped to Australia. It is layered and already open, with the complexity that marks the house style even at this level.
Approachable on release and likely to improve over three to ten years. Serve at 10 to 12°C with grilled fish, asparagus or a fresh goat's cheese.
